Section Specific Narrative Article Plan For “Titanic” (Tai Ta Ni Ke).

1)  Title: “Titanic”. 
 
2)  Introduction: A love story – very moving – shows us the “ideal man”. 
 
3)  Setting (time): The year 1912; also in the present. 
 
4)  Setting (place): The northern Atlantic Ocean – inside the Titanic. 
 
5)  Characters: 
(a) “Young” Rose – about 21 – from a good family – engaged to “Mark” (forgot real name) – impulsive – unhappy with her engagement – a true lover – beautiful. 
(b) “Old” Rose – in her 80's – brave – clever – has sense of honor – faithful to Jack, and herself – maybe a little naughty. 
(c) Jack – a risk-taker – brave – a true lover – selfless – has a vision (dream) for Rose’s future – an artist – poor – fun-loving – resourceful. 
(d) “Mark” – rich – selfish – violent – unfair – coward – committed suicide in 1929 – marries for money and position. 
(e) The Titanic’s designer – proud – he believed the ship was “unsinkable” – died. 
(f) Others – ship’s captain – Baron Rothschild – other passengers. 
 
6)  Plot Summary: 
(a) (In the present) – under the sea – in a remote-controlled submarine. 
(b) An old photograph is discovered – “old” Rose comes to the research ship. 
(c) (The year 1912) – introduce characters – on the ship. 
(d) Rose and Jack meet. 
(e) Rose and Jack’s relationship develops. 
(f) Ship hits iceberg. 
(g) Ship begins to sink. 
(h) The fight between “Mark” and Jack. 
(i) Ship sinks – many die. 
(j) (In the present, again) – “old” Rose, again – she throws the diamond into the sea. 
 
7)  Conflict: 
(a) Will Rose and Jack stay together? 
(b) Rivalry between Jack and “Mark”. 
(c) Will the research scientist find the diamond? 
(d) Will the people on the Titanic be saved? 
 
8)  Resolution of Conflict: 
(a) No – only for a few days. 
(b) “Mark” loses Rose.

(d) Many died. 
 
9)  Conclusion: Wonderful love story – sad – cry – about the diamond (my own opinion).
